Chair of SAE J2954 Taskforce


Mr. Schneider works for Great Wall Motors as Chief Engineer, Electric and Hydrogen Vehicles and Standards in China. He previously worked in Engineering Management at BMW Germany and before this at Daimler in both electric and fuel cell vehicles for two decades. There he led a number of world first projects on vehicle development in electrification at automakers.


Externally to automakers he has led a number of key standardization teams in  both electric and hydrogen vehicles in partnerships in Germany and the US.  Specifically, he led the ISO Standard, TS 19880-1 for the hydrogen station, SAE Standards for interface, communications and hydrogen fueling, SAE J2601 & SAE J2799.


Related to this training, Mr. Schneider established the first standardization effort on wireless power transfer for EVs, SAE J2954 in 2010 which has produced a Technical Information Report (2015), Recommended Practice (2017) and soon a second Recommended Practice (2018) specifying wireless power transfer up to 11kW. He also coordinated the testing efforts to validate these standards.
